RIYADH: The Sultanate of Oman participated on Monday in the 30th meeting of the GCC Standing Committee of Officials of Legislation Departments, which was held at the Secretariat-General’s headquarters in Riyadh.
The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman to the meeting was headed by Dr Yahya bin Nasser al Khusaibi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs.
The meeting discussed a number of topics on the agenda, most notably the work strategy of the Standing Committee of Officials of Legislative Departments in the GCC countries for the years 2026–2028, in addition to the outcomes of the meetings of the committee of experts and specialists from the legislative departments.
It also deliberated on the draft unified law for the GCC countries regarding controlled substances under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and their alternatives, the draft amendment to some provisions of the executive regulations of the pesticides law for the GCC countries, the draft unified law for organic inputs and products of the GCC and the draft executive regulations of the unified law for the management of plant genetic resources for the GCC.
Furthermore, the meeting discussed the work of the team tasked with compiling legislative principles issued by legislative departments in the GCC countries. The meeting also witnessed the initial launch of the electronic platform for Gulf legislation, which enables searching for national legislation across the GCC countries through an application programming interface (API) connection. — ONA
